Garden Bird Feeders
Garden bird feeders allows you to attract birds to your garden and enjoy watching them from the
comfort of your home. A garden bird feeder provide them with food and drink. Birdfeeders are one
of the fastest and proved ways to attract birds around your home. Feeding birds at garden can give you a lot of
pleasure.
Don’t expect for birds to discover the bird feeders on your garden in the first days. Often it takes some weeks
for the birds to find them and recognize they are a source of food. Be patient. The birds have to discover the new
food source.
The feeders should be placed on a quiet place where they can be easily seen and refilled.
Depending on your garden configuration you can use feeders that can be attached to a tree or that can be perched
on top of a pole.
Although more easy to place feeders hanging on trees can be also more often visited by unwanted visitors like
squirrels or some bird-eating cats. Using a pole with some optional accessories can provide a good solution for
these problems. You must position the pole at least 10 feet away from any possible jump platform, mount the feeders
around 6 feet up from the ground and mount on the pole a cone shaped baffle about 4.5 feet off the ground.
The type of food you provide in your garden bird feeders is also an important issue.
The more usually food used is bird seed and normally sunflower seed because is the one that attracts the widest
variety of birds. If you want to attract cardinals choose safflower. Although hard to crack open for some birds is
the cardinal’s favorite. Some ground-feeding birds like quails, doves, and juncos like white proso millet.
